Whimsical and beautiful toys from Virunga National Park in DR Congo. They can be used both flat as a pillow and gathered with velcro so they stand on their legs.
The toys are made of widows after park guards who have been shot during service while trying to protect both animals and people in the park. The widows receive US $100 a month to work at the sewing workshop and the profits from the sale goes towards financing the children's schooling and both the widows' and children's healthcare costs.
About 200 women have lost their men because of the armed attacks on and in the national park.
The toys are made of cotton fabric with the unique African print. They are safe for children.
