Za'atar from Palestine is a traditional spice blend made from wild thyme, toasted sesame seeds, sumac and extra virgin olive oil. The blend is of high quality and gives an aromatic, slightly sour and nutty flavour. No salt is added.
Use with olive oil as a dip for bread, sprinkle over flatbread, vegetables, labneh and or use as a marinade for salads, etc. Za'atar has strong symbolic meaning as a flavor image of Palestinian everyday cuisine and cultural heritage.
We buy from Taybeh Brewing Co. who collaborate with local cooperatives. Taybeh is an internationally recognized company that was established in the West Bank in 1994.
The company is run by a Christian Palestinian family, and has become a symbol of cooperation, respect and peaceful coexistence between religions in a troubled region.
