Dark chocolate, 63% cocoa, organic and vegan, made from Trinitario cocoa beans with an intense cocoa flavor and notes of dried fruit and mocha.
The chocolate is produced in eastern Congo (DRC) by a company established in connection with Virunga National Park and with the help of Belgium's leading chocolate experts.
The area is hard hit by conflict, poverty and disease, including Ebola and COVID-19. Chocolate production here contributes to peace and prosperity for the local population, and to the sustainability and protection of the unique wildlife, including the rare mountain gorillas.
As they write on the chocolate wrapper:
"It's simple. When you buy the chocolate, the farmers around Virunga National Park are happy. The rangers in the park are happy. The gorillas and the rest of the wildlife are happy. And when you take the first bite, you are extremely happy too. That's what we call double happiness!"
We have five different quality chocolates from Congo: Dark (63%) , Peanut (61%) , Coconut Milk (54%) , White Coconut Milk (29%) and Intense Dark (95%) .
