Galangal, ginger and chili
Our galangal, ginger and chili have two things in common:These are unique and exciting spices that add flavor and power.
And their sale provides income and a little hope to very poor families in one of the world's most complex and unstable conflict areas, Shan State in Myanmar.
That is why we – despite great difficulties and costs – continue to trade with the families in the two isolated rural areas of Hopong and Hsihseng in collaboration with the Danish organization ADDA.
The products we buy are worth it. The dried ginger is sharp, spicy and with notes of citrus. The chili is strong, but at the same time sweet and aromatic.
And we would also highly recommend dried galangal, also known as aromatic ginger. It has a warm, sharp and spicy flavor reminiscent of ginger, but is milder and has notes of citrus, cardamom and pepper. It is used especially in Southeast Asian cuisine (Thai, Indonesian) for soups, curries and stir-fries and can also be used as an herbal tea.
The conflict in Myanmar between the military junta and rebel groups unfortunately escalated in 2025 with intense fighting. More than 75,000 have died and millions have been displaced – both internally and to neighboring countries. The UN estimates that 40 percent of the population is in need of humanitarian assistance.
Thank you for trading for peace.
