This is a fantastic product made by Virunga Origins to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Virunga National Park, home to the largest population of endangered mountain gorillas in the world.
The chocolate is made from Trinitario cocoa beans with an intense cocoa flavor and notes of dried fruit and mocha.
The Gorilla weighs 200 grams and comes in the most beautiful tin container, which can be used for cookies or other storage afterwards.
The factory works under the most difficult conditions imaginable in an area that has been hit hard in recent months by the conflict between the DR Congo army and the M23 rebel group. There is extreme poverty and large refugee flows .
Yet Virunga Origins has managed to produce and ship the chocolate and make a contribution to income, employment and protecting the unique wildlife in the National Park.
